LVU Rush Introduces Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Team: Empowering Female Athletes and Inspiring the Next Generation

LVU Rush proudly unveils the launch of its Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) team, marking a monumental stride in empowering female athletes and fostering community engagement. This initiative aims not only to elevate the standard of women's soccer but also to inspire and provide role models for younger girls within our local soccer community.

The LVU Rush WPSL team embodies the essence of athleticism, determination, and passion, offering a platform for women to showcase their skills while advocating for gender equality in sports. By nurturing talent and encouraging participation, we envision a ripple effect that fosters inclusivity, resilience, and aspiration among aspiring young female soccer players throughout our community. The LVU Rush WPSL team stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration, lighting the way for a new generation of female athletes to chase their dreams and rewrite the norms in the world of soccer.

As of 2023, the WPSL is the longest-active women’s soccer league in the United States and the largest women’s soccer league in the world. Its national footprint stretches from the Atlantic to the Pacific and down to the Gulf with teams in 32 of the 50 U.S. states. WPSL team rosters consist of elite female players from collegiate, post-collegiate, international, and standout prep athletes. Indeed, notable alumnae who’ve honed their talents in the WPSL include household names such as Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach, and Brandi Chastain, as well as NCAA All-Americans, MAC Hermann Trophy recipients, Hall of Fame Inductees, Olympic Medalists, World Cup Winners, NWSL Champions, and Ballon d’Or recipients.

LVU RUSH will be filled with local talent; players will hail from more than seven conferences across all three divisions of NCAA programs, with a number coming to LVU RUSH fresh off championship seasons.

We compete in the WPSL’s MAC Commonwealth Division against Hershey FC, Keystone FC (Harrisburg, P.A.), HEX FC Tempest (Allentown, P.A.), PA Classics (Harrisburg, P.A.) and Reading United A.C.

All LVU RUSH home games will be played at 7 p.m. at Gwynedd Mercy University on June 6 (PA Classics), June 9 (Reading AC), June 13 (Hershey FC), June 20 (Hex FC), and June 27 (Keystone FC).

The roster is represented by players from DI's Big East (Seton Hall University), America East (New Jersey Institute of Technology), Big South (Longwood University), Atlantic 10 (University of Rhode Island and Fordham) and MAAC Conferences (St. Peter's University), DII's Central Atlantic College (Holy Family University) and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conferences (West Chester University and Shippensburg University), and DIII's Centennial (Ursinus University, Franklin & Marshall and McDaniel College), MAC Commonwealth (Messiah University), United East (St. Mary’s College of Maryland), and Landmark Conferences (Catholic University, Moravian University), as well as DIII's Liberty League (Ithaca College).
